How do I receive my letters or parcels?
Any mail sent to residents will be centrally directed to the Hall Office. The mailbox is provided for residents of the corresponding room use only. Residents are advised not to put anything valuable in the mailbox for security reasons.
To avoid any loss of the parcel, residents are advised to check the parcel delivery time with the courier company and stay at hall to collect the parcel in person. Any package not picked up for more than three days will be returned to the sender or disposed of.
 
Is there any limitation of parcels collected for residents by the General Office?
Due to the limited space of hall counter, we can only accept the size of parcel no more than 40(W)X35(D)X15(H)cm/per item that could match with the size of mailbox.
 
How can I connect to the Internet?
Wired internet port is available for each hall space. Wi-Fi connection is available for HKU Students and Staff and for guests.
 
Is there a Lost and Found Area if I lose my personal belongings?
Residents are reminded to take good care of their belongings. The hall is not responsible for any loss and/or damage to personal belongings within the Hall premises. Items found in the Common Areas will be kept by Hall Office Lost and Found for 1 month.

How can I know if the various hall activity teams are interesting and suitable for me?
Once applicants get admitted into LHTH, there will be a compulsory SCSI event in September, when residents will get a chance to learn about different sports teams and cultural teams, including badminton team, choir team, band interest group, etc.
 
Are there many activities in our hall?
Yes. We regularly hold a lot of different activities and events within the hall, like inter-hall competitions and activities to celebrate the festivals, such as Christmas, Halloween and Lunar New Year…
 
How to sign up if I want to bring visitors to the hall?
You can fill in the Registration Form at the Reception Counter, both you and the visitor will need to present the student card or HKID for identification purposes. For non-HKU visitors, they can use HKID or passport as identification.
 
When are visitors allowed at LHTH?
LHTH is a female-only residential hall. For female guests, they are allowed to visit LHTH every day during 7am to 11pm, whereas male guests can visit LHTH on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays from 9am to 11pm
 
Are High Table Dinners (HTD) compulsory?
Yes, there will be 2 compulsory HTDs each residential year.
 

Accommodation and Facilities:

 
What is the size of single and double rooms?
Each single room is about 7.5 square meters, and double room are about 15 square meters. All the rooms are equipped with beds, wardrobes, writing desks with lamps, chairs and bookshleves.
 
Can I choose to live in a single room?
 The majority of hallmates are assigned to double rooms. Single rooms, on the other hand, are typically reserved for senior stduents and are limited in availability.
 
What is the strategy of allocating hall mates for rooms?
Room allocation is completed before the start of a residential year. Due to the university policy, we prioritize the principle of pairing one local student with one non-local student.
 
Is the location of LHTH convenient?
LHTH is about five minutes’ walk to the campus as well as the MTR subway station.
 
Is there a curfew time at night?
No, residents can access to the hall anytime with their student cards.
 
Is it possible for me to change room if I have sought the consent from other residents?
Room changes are highly discouraged unless there are exceptional circumstances. The recommended procedure for residents seeking a room change is to consult their floor tutor, who will then seek guidance from the appropriate Senior Tutor. If all other options have been explored and a room change is deemed necessary, the resident must submit an application to the Hall Office. This application should include signed written consent from all parties involved, along with a clear explanation of the reasons for the requested room swap. It is important to note that all room change requests must receive approval from the Warden before any adjustments can be made.
 
Are there any cooking facilities or utensils in the lounge?
Lady Ho Tung Hall provides convenient facilities on each floor, including public restrooms and cooking areas. The cooking area is equipped with induction stoves, an oven, and a microwave for the residents’ use. However, residents are responsible for bringing their own cooking utensils.
To maintain cleanliness and hygiene, residents are required to clean the cooking area after each use. It’s important to note that light cooking is prohibited in order to prevent excessive smoke that may trigger the fire alarm.
 
Can I use the photocopying and printing machine in hall?
Yes. A photocopier/ printer is located in the Computer Room on 1/F. 
 
How to use the laundry service?
The laundry room is located on the 19F with 5 washing machines and 4 dryers available for your use. To operate these machines, simply tap your Octopus Card at the kiosk located right in the laundry room itself. Additionally,  there is an indoor drying area adjacent to the laundry room exclusively for residents. 
 
What should I do when hearing fire alarm continuously?
Residents should switch off all electrical appliances, and leave the building immediately. Residents of rooms 1-7 can use the front stairs, whereas those who resides in rooms 8-14 can use the back stairs. 
 

Admission:

 
What can I do to increase the possibility of getting readmission?
The admission criteria contain 50% need score and 50% merit score. The former refers to traveling time between applicant’s home and the Main Campus, while the latter includes a calculation of 50% hall participation and 50% CGPA scores. To increase the possibility of readmission, it is suggested that residents actively engage in both hall and floor functions. For more detailed information, please visit http://www.ase.hku.hk/.
 
What is the amount of lodging fees?
The whole year charges include a 1st installment of $ 10,472 and a 2nd installment of $ 11,750, so in total HK$ 22,222. The announcement of lodging charges will be informed through email and via HKU portal.
